The Sole Survivor Psychological and Educational Support
In light of the profound humanitarian impacts left by the war, a group of children who lost their families and were left alone to face life has emerged, known as “sole survivors.” Driven by its social responsibility, Noor Al-Maarefa Association implemented a humanitarian project aimed at supporting this vulnerable group and alleviating the effects of loss and trauma.
As part of the project, the Association formed a team of social researchers who conducted field visits to more than 450 sole survivor children in the central area, with the purpose of collecting and analyzing data and developing a comprehensive intervention plan tailored to their psychological and educational needs.
The project was implemented through three main components:
-
Psychological support: through individual and group psychosocial support sessions.
-
Recreational activities: designed to restore joy and promote emotional well-being among children.
-
Educational support: through a remedial education program to address learning loss, delivered by specialized teachers in Arabic language and Mathematics.
This project reflects Noor Al-Maarefa Association’s commitment to supporting war-affected children, promoting their psychological recovery and educational continuity, and strengthening the resilience of the Palestinian community in the face of the war’s humanitarian consequences.
